GIS file processing for optimization : LorikGISTools
This module gives you access to a geoprocessing environment for enriching your data from geographic databases. By integrating vector databases, georeferenced images or digital terrain models, the processing tools can be used to identify, modify or create data. On-the-fly testing facilitates parameter adjustment through to validation for the creation of new layers and the export of Shape (or Geotiff in the case of images).
Layer import
A multitude of formats are compatible with our software. Data are imported simultaneously, adapted to the georeferencing of the work plan, even if their original coordinates and structures are different.
- GIS files: Shape, MIF/MID, E00, IFF Laser-Scan, EDBS, Mastermap, S57, MapInfo Tab, GPX, KML, ESRI Geodatabase (*.mdb), TigerLine (GDAL), PostNAS, Aeronav FAA, GML, Hydrographic Transfer, GeoJSON, UK.NTF, Tim Newport-Peace’s Special Use Airspace, EDIGEO, Idrisi Vector, GeoRSS, X-Plane/Flightgear aeronautical data, OpenAir Special Use Airspace Format, OSM xml et pbf etc…
- Images: Tiff, jpeg, xml, png…
- DEM files: MNT, ASC, YXZ, DTED…
Starting from GIS layers structured according to geographic georeferenced objects (polygons, polylines, points), the processing tools create new layers through a sequence of tasks whose precise parameters are defined by the user.
Processing tools
The geoprocessing environment contains specific tools adapted to each type of imported layer:
- Tools for polygon layers.
- Tools for polylines layers.
- Tools for points layers.
- Tools for digital terrain models.
From a defined main layer, LorikGISTools creates a new temporary layer, the result of identification, modification or creation processing.
Tools are sorted by type of entity to be processed and by action category. Each tool is configured according to the same methodology, as not all tools require all steps to be completed:
- Selection of the main layer on which processing will be performed.
- Selection of any additional layers required to process the main layer.
- Set tolerance options and criteria.
- Selection of attributes to be carried over, if required.
- Set conditions on the main layer if necessary.
- Naming of the resulting layer.
- Define the georeferencing of the resulting layer.
Relief representation
By integrating digital terrain model files, LorikGISTools offers processing tools to represent the relief of an area:
- Automatic creation of smoothed contour lines.
- Creation of relief images in luminosity mode (shading) or altitude mode (color range).
- Other tools use DTM elevation data to enrich databases (attribute-based retrieval of point elevation).
Overview of processing tools, for vector geographic data, and the power of graphic processing for relief data
Creating curves: the skeleton of a surface
Creating the centerline of a polygon.
Treatment of networks: free ends
Identification of curves with an unconnected end, based on a length criterion.
Processing networks: identifying detours
Generalizing a network by identifying detours.
Surface aggregation
Aggregate and simplify a set of polygons using tolerance parameters.
Aggregation of complex surfaces
Particularly in the context of generalizing cartographic data, this task enables very satisfactory results to be obtained from a complex set of polygons.
