LorikSoftware 1.1 Cartographic Suite Hits the Market with Major Enhancements
Lorienne launches an improved version of its new redesigned suite of cartographic software with additional importing features.
Montreuil, France – February 22, 2007 – Following the launch of LorikSoftware 1.0 in September 2006, Lorienne announces the release 1.1 of its already recognized high end cartographic suite. Among others, LorikSoftware 1.1 comes with breakthrough innovations to import existing data sources into Lorienne map designs. Those include now the opportunity to interpret graphic information from PDF files and to inquire directly from Databases in order to create cartographic information.
From a production perspective, LorikSoftware 1.1 brings a raster Adobe Flash output format in LorikDigital.
All LorikSoftware 1.1 improvements are designed to increase long standing customers’ ROI in map production.
“The new scheduled LorikSoftware features demonstrate to our customers and partners that Lorienne leadership in cartographic design is proven robust” said Sébastien Lanoë, marketing product manager for LorikSoftware. “In addition, with PDF import, we want to offer map designers an alternative to convert deprecated or basic graphics file formats toward a professional cartographic asset system with the same level of high quality as any other Lorienne product” added Sébastien Lanoë.
LorikSoftware 1.1 new features include Database direct reading (Oracle Spatial and PostgreSQL) from multiple database sources enabling GIS file combination and optimized processes to manage large volume of information. Database information combination is made easier within a rocket speed process without programming requirement.
Importing PDF process becomes now a straight forward option for merging multiple graphic map files into a single LorikSoftware project. This import is fully WISIWIG and processes both in vector and raster modes. Discontinued file formats bases can be converted to revive the map information assets. Merged files result in a single cartographic base to benefit of the multi-products and large file management of LorikSoftware which means cost reduction in map updating.
Direct Adobe Flash output support in raster format expands opportunity to integrate LorikSoftware map projects into more image servers and therefore reducing web mapping integration costs.
LorikSoftware 1.1 will be made available progressively for free to existing customers under valid maintenance, by end of February. The new release also includes additional enhancements from LorikSoftware 1.0.

Lorienne and Novasys: The Technological Alliance
Novasys enriches Maponair™ by extending coverage to 15 countries with LorikSoftware
Montreuil, France and Lausanne, Switzerland - November 20th, 2006 - Novasys, the specialist in integrated systems for geo-localization, announces the complete revision of its web-oriented system for map display and routing with the LorikSoftware™ suite from Lorienne SA. When it supplied the first licences for CirrusWebMapping at the beginning of 2006 to Novasys, Lorienne also involved itself in the production schedule, coverage and quality level of this ambitious project. Thanks to the close cooperation between the technical teams of Novasys and Lorienne, Maponair™ is now on-line on www.maponair.com.
Maponair™ offers a set of user-friendly tools for map consultation and location of addresses in Europe and North America. At the beginning of 2006, Novasys was looking for a system to enhance the map quality of Maponair™ as fast as possible while increasing quality. Lorienne, specialized in high quality cartographic publishing software, proposed the integrated production line of CirrusWebMapping, which automates the production of maps from GIS or Oracle Data Bases and generates the maps for on-line publication. At present, CirrusWebMapping is the most powerful system on the market to progress data from geographic information to high level graphic representation.
Novasys, a Navteq partner since 1998, is able to process its Navstreet database to generate maps of Western Europe in the short time of six months, with an exceptional legibility level and graphical quality. With the flexibility and power of CirrusWebMapping, Novasys is able to generate twelve scales between 1:2 000 and 1:40 000 000. The partnership between Lorienne and Navteq has been one of the keys for the success of this project.
The Novasys technical team appreciates the ease with which Cirrus reads, analyses and transfers data in fully automated processes. From the resultant cartographic data base they automatically generates raster tiles of different scales with LorikDigital. These are processed in an image server for publication on Internet. Novasys is able to further enrich the product, thanks to LorikDigital, by adding a tiling of orthophotos onto the Maponair™ vector maps with an exclusive technology allowing for a smooth shift between the Navteq maps and the Aerial Photos. Novasys integrates mapping consultation tools for Internet Portals and for the localisation of points of interest. “Our customers can now appreciate their signboard highlighted and accurately positioned with this new version of Maponair™. Thanks to our collaborative work with Lorienne we reached new markets and developed our activity in the whole Europe, and soon in the whole world”, says Ali Hussein," VP Sales & Marketing of Novasys.
The engineers and the experts of both companies knew how to communicate throughout the project and Novasys appreciated Lorienne’s ability to react and the quality of their services. “We adhered to the project from the beginning and applied the necessary resources so that Maponair™ is now a window for our range of LorikSoftware™ products. It is always very satisfactory to see the fruit of our work valued by one of our customers! declares Jean-Paul Dehette CEO of Lorienne.
"The revision of Maponair™ is now a routine operation", automatically executed periodically - without human intervention. CirrusWebMapping is the ideal and unique solution for the automatic design and publication of maps on Internet.

Lorienne and Tele Atlas announce the signing of a partnership contract
Montreuil, May 22, 2002 - Lorienne, creator of the Cirrus system from the Lorik(tm) line of software products, has signed a partnership agreement with Tele Atlas, a world leader in the field of digital road map production.
This cooperation will permit the enjoining of Lorik''s computer engineering technologies in the graphics domain with Tele Atlas expertise in digital cartographic databases.
For this project, Tele Atlas has put at Lorienne's disposal the very latest version of its Multinet (version 01.5) in Shape format. Cirrus, from the Lorik(tm) line of products, allows users to process raw data in order to optimize their graphic value in an entirely automated environment. The cartographic database that results from this process reaches unmatched quality, ready to be mined for any type of print or Internet/Intranet publication.
The intent of this study is to serve as a showcase for the Cirrus system as well as Multinet data. Its ultimate objective, of course, is to develop and promote Lorienne and Tele Atlas products so as to expand domestic and international markets.
"This project will allow us to capitalize on the high-quality data produced by the processing of zones that contain high concentrations of information. We go about importing from these zones by creating conditions for importing geometry, in addition to defining a host of positioning rules that govern the import of text and labels. These data, texts, and curves are read and exploited by Cirrus. This method of automation reduces processing time and increases productivity by a significant degree," explains Sébastien Lanoë, Director of Marketing at Lorienne.
"By forging this relationship, Lorienne and Tele Atlas demonstrate that their mutual products offer a true added value. Tele Atlas was born out of an increasing demand for digital data, and Cirrus enables an optimum graphic rendering of our Multinet product," says Richard d'Humières, Director of Sales and Marketing at Tele Atlas France.
"We have already proven that combining the two products produces exceptional results. We are counting a great deal on this partnership to further establish Cirrus reputation as a product geared towards organizations who use localized cartographic databases, and who have a growing need for accurate and legible representation," notes Jean-Paul Dehette, CEO of Lorienne.
This collaboration will enable players in certain domains to finally achieve the much sought-after quality needed to differentiate themselves beyond question in the eyes of their clients.
The generation of digital cartographic data by Tele Altas and the use of Cirrus to interpret those data represents a model solution in today's production environment, where productivity and quality remain paramount, but in which timeframes are steadily shrinking.

Cirrus chosen by the National Geographic Institute of Belgium
The National Geographic Institute of Belgium has adopted Lorik’s Cirrus technology for Automatic Topographic Map Production.
Brussels and Paris, April 4, 2002 – Lorik, a Lorienne, Inc. company, and the National Geographic Institute of Belgium announce the latter’s selection of Cirrus for automating its map production procedures, to be driven by vector data stored in a Geographic Information System.
The National Geographic Institute of Belgium (NGI), which has among its goals the production of a series of topographic maps of Belgian territory, has brought new direction to digital map production.
To that end, the NGI aims to create a single production chain merging data at a scale of 1/10,000th and Jan-50,000th into a continuous ArcInfo database. The basic geometry is scaled at 1/10,000th and serves as the framework for future conventional maps. The NGI also hopes to incrementally automate its symbolization procedures for producing GIS-generated maps. The NGI has thus adopted the Cirrus software solution, created by Lorik, as a cartographic system to complement the ArcInfo GIS.
“Cirrus opens up new possibilities in implementing an automated production chain by enabling a transition from a single GIS to multiple Cartographic Information Systems (CIS),” states Eric Bayers, Director of Cartography at the NGI, also heading the Cirrus project.
Cirrus offers powerful tools for map production automation stemming from geographic data and guarantees the visual quality of resulting maps. The software provides the NGI an integrated solution in a seamless environment that merges all phases of the map production process.
“Cirrus offers automatic text and label placement tools as well as powerful, highly-innovative tools for creating symbols on curves – all of which complement in a seamless fashion the tools already provided in other Lorik software solutions,” according to Eric Bayers.
The NGI will therefore be able to construct a true cartographic database fed by vector data generated by the ArcInfo GIS, as well as employ Cirrus to establish a methodical approach to optimizing the map production chain.
“By supplying the NGI, we are demonstrating that Cirrus is technology of the future that distinguishes itself as a tool for exploiting GIS information”, says Jean-Paul Dehette, CEO of Lorienne, Inc. “Cirrus combines automatic processes and interactive work with great ease, thus offering vast flexibility in managing cartographic projects."
About the National Geographic Institute of Belgium
The National Geographic Institute of Belgium", as it is known today, was created in 1976. The NGI is a public body and operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Defense. The NGI has several missions concerning Belgian territory including the collection, management, processing, and analysis of spatial data. The NGI is particularly charged with establishing topographic databases and creating map series that are derived from a single database at a scale of 1/10,000th. The NGI establishes and distributes norms and directives concerning the content, quality, and exchange format of topographic databases.
